As we all know, Helicobacter Pylori is a really common pathogen found in many developing and 1st world countries in the world. In today's blog, we will be talking about why this pathogen is found mostly in developing counties and how this pathogen can devastate a whole community because of the lack of resources. Now, I would like to say that I have a first hand experience with this because I am from Sri Lanka (which is still a developing country from independence). I hope you guys learn something about why we should have a push in medical supplies to developing countries such as SL, India, Sierra Leone, and many more.
First of all, many people believe that the pathogen is very common in developing countries because they don't take proper care of their people. Now, let me tell you this, developing countries DO take care of its people, it's just that we are on a strict budget so we can't implement everything that we want. I'm sure that you would say that health is more important than building / maintaining public parks and buildings (e.g libraries), but the mindset that these government officials have is that if we maintain and implement these buildings around these countries, then we will start to see a reduction in these outbreaks. Sanitation. That is the key for maintaining a healthy community. Well, is it? Let me say this: developing countries are trying to help their people, however they do have strict budgets in which they need to follow. If you don't mind, I will be referring to a bit of politics in this post. For example, let's take the political side of Sri Lanka for example. Mahinda Rajapakse had been kicked out and Maithripala Sirisena was sworn in. Now, with this implementation of a new president, we found that there would be some changes to do with the government. Maithri had said that they would be testing out their cabinet members for 3 months to see whether they were worth it. If not, they would be kicked out. Ladies and Gents, don't you think that this is a bit too far fetched. How are you going to save any money by simply testing out different people? Why can't we spend this money on medical equipment and doctors? I guess that it is up to the general population to take care of their lives, the government won't step in with much assistance. This is what you would expect with a developing country, trial and error. However, if you tried this game on a 1st world country, there would be riots and chaos within the streets. That's one reason - the mindset of the people. In order to understand this in more detail, we would need to understand the human brain and psychology (really interesting).
Moving onward, let's talk about the current medical resources that we currently have. Medical resources are growing and we are starting to understand the reasons to why health is important in society. If there is no health, there is no society. In a way, the governments should be starting to implement more resources relating to health infrastructure. In this, we will veer away from SL and move onto countries which were severally effected by the recent ebola outbreak. I will be talking about Sierra Leone and how they are being treated by foreign aid to stop this ebola outbreak. Ebola, as you all should know is another serious disease that grows from another pathogen, like H. Pylori. If it is not isolated (current moment in time), then it will spread to more countries in the world. I believe that the foreign aid was sparked partially by genuine help to the countries effected by the disease, but also because the other countries wanted to prevent the disease from entering / spreading to their countries. That is why other countries have offered their assistance to help. Simply put, Sierra Leone didn't have sufficient medical resources to self-sufficiently serve its people.

This, as many people would imagine is quite serious. If Sierra Leone did have enough resources to isolate the effected, then there would not be many other countries offering to help. In other words, developing counties do usually get infested with these pathogens and diseases because of the poor living conditions and the medical resources that they have.
